P-010 NYHUS AS A TREATMENT FOR STRANGULATED INGUINAL HERNIA: EXPERIENCE IN A SPECIALIZED ABDOMINAL WALL UNIT

Abstract Aim We present our experience in the repair of strangled inguinal hernias using Nyhus technique. Material and methods Retrospective review from 2019 to 2021 39 patients operated on for strangulated hernia who underwent a subsequent with cavity exploration technique, minimum follow-up 12 months. There were (77% men/23% women) mean age 67 years (range 45–87 years), which 41% smokers, 22% obese, 10% cardiopaths COPD. 28% recurrent. Results Of operated, intestinal resection anastomosis necessary two patients; seroma was observed 3 (10%), SSI 2 (6%), hematoma 4 (12%). During follow-up, recurrence has only been recorded patients(6%). Conclusions Anterior is most widely used technique today due its simplicity reproducibility. In many centers, laparoscopic approach being imposed, allows, addition hernia, correct revision package cases doubtful viability. However, few surgeons master open preperitoneal so useful recurrences, complex especially emergencies. The very technical option hernias, allowing access wide visibility possibility safe without need general anesthesia.
